On-line Help... Management After making your final diagnosis for the patient you will proceed to the Final Management section of the case. Before entering Final Management, you will probably be asked to create your existing problem list or edit an existing one. The list will help you complete your management plan for the patient. The Final Management section is the last step in your completion of the case. Depending on your instructor's preferences, you will either select management items from the management categories and/or answer questions related to patient treatment. Selecting from Categories You will be asked to select a treatment mode, either Treat Patient as an Outpatient or Admit Patient to Hospital. Make your selection and click Save. The management categories -- Nursing Care, Activity, Diet, Procedure, Collaboration, Medications, Education, Counseling, Community, and Follow-up --- allow you to complete your management plan. Click the category, make your selection from the list and click the Order button. You may also be prompted to justify your orders by answering a question such as "What would be the purpose of this?" To order medications click the Medications category. Choose the drug type and click Select. Then select the appropriate class of drugs and click Order. You will be prompted to enter the name of the drug, dose, route, and interval for the patient. If you ordered any delayed labs, click the Continue button after you have completed of your management plan. The delayed labs screen will appear, where you can select from the list of labs and review the results. When finished, click Continue and to move to the Dx screen where you can change your diagnosis and the justification for your diagnosis. After you're satisfied with the changes to your diagnosis, click Continue to return to the Final Management screen where you may change your treatment mode and add to your management plan. When you are finished with the Management section, click Evaluate. Back to Help Index
