VirtualPT Clinician is the first patient simulation software of its kind designed to help instructors gain valuable insights into the physical therapy student's clinical reasoning process. Based on the virtual patient case study concept, VirtualPT Clinician is tailored to reflect the clinical reasoning process used by physical therapists. As students work through the patient problem, their clinical decisions are recorded for analysis and evaluation by the instructor, providing evidence of strengths and weaknesses in the students' clinical reasoning skills.

Problem Lists
After gathering basic information on the virtual patient's illness, students are required to create an initial problem list and link hypotheses. Users further their investigation of the virtual patient responses to additional interview questions and/or physical exam findings by linking those investigative choices with one or more hypothesis.
Physical Exam
Specialized tests unique to practice of physical therapy are available in the physical exam.
Patient Goals
After diagnosing the virtual patient, students are presented with the instructor-specified list of patient problems, correcting errors in student thinking as they develop a list of management goals for each patient problem.
Patient Management
Students specify a management plan by ordering interventions linked to patient problems. Other management options include education, collaboration with other professionals, and/or counseling choices.
Record Utility
Student investigation of the virtual patient is recorded and evaluated within the VirtualPT Clinician Record Utility. The Record Utility gives instructors insight to the clinical reasoning process of the physical therapy student.
